Telluride and Durango Mountain ski areas offer great skiing and snowboarding terrains. Located about 70 miles north east of Cortez, Telluride boasts some of the country's best winter activities. Durango Mountain also packs in the winter fun punch and is located just north of Durango on HWY 550.

Hiking, biking, fishing, boating, rafting, golf, horseback riding, hunting, skiing, and snowmobiling are just some of the popular sports in Mesa Verde Country™. With our incredible climate, many recreational activities are available year round, and our location makes it possible to cross country ski in the mountains on a winter's morning, and hike in our warm red-rock canyons on a winter's afternoon.
The Conquistador Golf Course in Cortez is located at 2018 N. Dolores Road, off Highway 145. See Map This is a championship 18-hole golf course with sand traps, water hazards, practice driving range and putting green. The USGA has stated that the par 72, 18 hole course rivals many larger budget facilities. Its excellent playing surface and beautiful surroundings are sure to make each and every round of golf enjoyable.
